7 Braided Hairstyles Great For Summer

What you will need:                                                                           What you might need:
Hair elastics                                                                                            Mirror
Bobby pins                                                                                             Hairspray

Hairbrush

Braided Bun:
Take a piece of hair above your ear under your top layer of hair and section it off. Dutch braid that section horizontal all the way to the back of your head. Once you get to the back of your head proceed to normally braid your hair all the way to the end and secure the ends with a bobby pin. Take the rest of your hair, leaving the braid out and twist it into a bun, securing with bobby pins. Then take the braided section, wrap around the bun and pin.

Angel Braid:
Side part your hair and take the front section and french braid it along your hairline. However, instead of adding in pieces on both sides, only add in pieces in the front. Keep french braiding all the way to your ear. Then secure the braid with two bobby pins underneath your hair and let the rest of your hair flow over, covering up the bobby pins.

Dutch Braid aka. the Elsa Braid:
Take a center section of hair close to your forehead. Make three sections. Dutch braiding is very similar to French braiding but you change one thing; instead of braiding over the middle section and pulling in pieces, you braid under the middle section and pull in pieces. A Dutch braid is essentially a reverse french braid. Once you finish you can either leave the braid tight or loosen it up to make your appear thicker like I did here.

French Pigtail Braids:
Middle part your hair and then split into two even sections. French braid the right section starting at your part, adding in hair. Then French braid the left section starting at your part, adding in hair. If you want you can pull out the braids to make them look thicker but in this picture I kept them tight.

Half-up Fishtail Braid:
Section off the top part of your hair above your ears and put into a half-up ponytail. Then split the ponytail into two section and fishtail braid until you are half way or three quarters of the way to the end. Secure with an elastic. I would recommend making the braid tighter so that you can pull the braid out and make it look thicker, but in this picture I left the braid loose.

Classic Fishtail Braid:
This one's my favorite out of all of them; if you do it right it can look really good. Gather all your hair into two sections at the back of your head. Then start fishtail braiding your hair. To fishtail braid, take one tiny section of hair from one side and add it to the other side. Then take one tiny section of hair from the other side and it to the first side. Keep doing this until you get to the end of your hair. Secure with an elastic. Then proceed to pull out the braid if you want to make it look thicker and fuller.

Pull-through Side Fishtail Braid:
This is the most complicated braid out of all of the ones I have shown but if you know how to do a fishtail braid easily, you should be able to pick this up. This hairstyle combines two braids in one: the pull-through braid and the fishtail braid. The pull-through braid takes some practice and if you want to see how I did this, watch the first video linked at the end of this post. Once you get the pull through braid done and have made it to one side of your head split your hair into two sections and start fishtail braiding. At the end secure with an elastic.

To see how to do some of the more complicated braids step by step, check out these two videos by lifestyle vlogger and blogger Aspyn Ovard. Aspyn is one of my favorite youtubers; she has amazing style and always looks beautiful.
